LouAnn is a member and Master Gardener with a design background and did she deliver a great presentation on Garden Trends 2017. Included was information about Bug Eaters- a list of common backyard birds and some of the pests they eat.
Our January 24th Meeting Speaker Julia Priolo
Julia Priolo is a gardener who is creating a homestead with her husband Peter in Center Moriches. Her gardens provide food for her family as well as the wildlife living in her neighborhood. She received her bachelors in Environmental Science from Stony Brook University and is currently studying for her Masters degree there. Julia is an ecologist at an environmental consulting firm where she works on various restoration projects.
Julia’s program was all about the wonderful world of seeds. She explained the importance of seed diversity and how to save your own garden seeds to re-grow. She also introduced some seed companies that she uses to purchase organic and heirloom seed varieties, including the Hudson Valley Seed Company upstate.
