Greetings! Tomorrow spring starts, so chin up, everyone. Our March meeting is right around the corner too, and Paula has engaged my very favorite speaker, Tamsin Yeh,
PhD plant science ,University of Rhode Island; MS animal and veterinary science University of Rhode Island; BA Wells College, biology. Author of “Can My Petunia Be Saved?” &
“Bulbs and Grasses to Beat Deer Appetites”.
Deer are the new bane of gardening existence, and they have a no empty stomach policy so even things formerly thought deer proof have been proven delectable to these mobile gourmands. Participants will learn about low maintenance bulbs and grasses, which are seldom if ever damaged by deer, a plan for keeping things pretty with these selections throughout the growing season, learn about the required conditions for these plants, and a bit about deer biology and some things they can try to deter deer pressure. Bring your questions and photographs for discussion!!! Hope to see you all there at Parks and Rec, 6 PM, 380 Bay Avenue, on March 27.
